- The Information Lens provides electronic mail
users with the ability to write rules that
automatically sort, select and filter their
messages. This paper describes experiences of 13
volunteer users of the rules facility. In
particular: people without significant computer
experience can create and use rules; useful rules
can be created based on the fields present in all
messages; rules are used for both prioritizing and
sorting messages; delete rules are used primarily to
filter out messages from low-priority distribution
lists.
